1. Welcome

Peter welcomes the attendees and opens the meeting.

2. Minutes last meeting

The minutes were accepted and no action items of the last meeting are open.

3. Review of PAR application

PA suggests the titel of the PAR to be: "Standard for Object-Oriented Extensions to IEEE Standard VHDL". This was accepted. He further suggested to aim at a trial use standard with a target completeion date of June 2001 (sponsor ballot done). The scope and purpose should be as balloted. Peter will propse the PAR to DASC Steering Committee on Sept. 3rd.

4. Proposal review

Unfortunately the panel did not have opportunity to review and discuss the material so far. Further two members of the expert panel have appologized for not attending the meeting: Wolfgang Ecker and Paul Menchini. Hence the agenda needs to be adapted. Peter refreshes the questions for the experts. A problem is the fact that the requirements are not yet approved formally by the Study Group. Peter suggests a schedule for the further review process, which should give the experts 6 weeks time for discussion within the group, i.e. review outcome to be published Friday October 15th. Discussion until Friday Oct. 29th, voting until Nov. 12th, 1999. The e-mail vote shall be structured:
  • Preamble
    • review process
    • summary of panel's findings
    • pointers to review documents and panel's finding
  • Which proposal should be adopted as the basis for object-oriented extensions to VHDL?
    • SUAVE
    • Objective VHDL
  • Constituency
    • DASC or Standards Association membership by time of vote.

5. Compatibility with SID effort

Peter review the request by DASC to come up with rational why there are two PAR proposals and how the co-ordiante. The baseline is up to now the agreement between both groups as defined in Lausanne.

6. Any other business

Next meeting will be held at DATE March 27 - April 3rd, 2000. The further procedure should be discussed before by e-mail.
