Steve makes a very important point. Compatibility needs to be (MUST BE)
addressed now, not later. Suitable language must be inserted into the PAR
to ensure that the issue is addressed. We do not need the solution now -
but we do need the issue addressed. Otherwise, we will have two dialects in
all probability.

As VHDL has matured and reached a level of stability, we must ensure that
follow-ons (enhancements) are under tight technical control. The structure
of the DASC must be reviewed to see how such controls can be established
and enforced. We do not want to lose the gains we have worked hard to
achieve.
