Dear colleagues,
Your probably surprised to see signs of life on this list! I apologise for
not having kept the level of activity going. Nonetheless, I'd like to seek
your views on a proposal raised at the recent DASC Steering Committee
meeting. It was suggested that P1604 could merge into the VHDL working
group, P1076, subject to consensus by stakeholders.
The scope of the LibIEEE project, from the PAR, is:
The standard will specify a process for determining which items are
permitted to reside in the predefined library named STD, defined in
IEEE Standard 1076, and the library named IEEE, referenced in associated
standards (such as 1164). This standard will also specify requirements
on the internal documentation in the source code for such items.
I believe these issues can readily be addressed within P1076, allowing us to
avoid the administrative overhead of an extra working group and the need to
keep multiple related standards synchronized.
I'd invite you to forward your views on the proposal, or to ask questions,
to this list. If we appear to be headed towards consensus, I'll call for a
formal vote after next week.
Thanks, and regards,
Peter Ashenden
